Orphans Housing Project
In 2005, one of the Kabwalin widows died leaving 6 young boys aged between 3 and 14 to fend for themselves. The eldest, Charles, had to leave school in order to look after his brothers even though he had no way of providing for them. Their traditional thatched hut had fallen into such disrepair it had become uninhabitable.
saltpetertrust has been able to provide funds for the construction of a small house to accommodate Charles and his brothers. An ongoing monthly donation employs a local woman to care for the children, provide and cook food on a daily basis, and allows all six boys to continue their education.
